Raymarine Seatalk Network

The Raymarine network consists of the Seatalk NG (new generation) network.

The Seatalk NG is a NMEA 2000 compatible network but it is not recommended to mix other brand equipment without extensive test.

02    eS127 Multi Function Display
01    12 V power supply for the eS127 Multi Function Display.  The power to the MFD is supplied by the bridge DC
          panel, independent from the SeaTalk NG net.

05    Furuno MFD.  The Seatalk NG net provides heading information.

Raymarine ST70 Instruments Programming

The Raymarine ST70 instruments can be programmed to show various screens.
Unfortunately when the power to the instruments is lost, the programming has to be repeated.

The Navionics Nautical Chart covers the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
The card fits into the MFD display.

Raymarine SmartPilot SPX Solenoid System

The SmartPilot SPX solenoid system is the core of the autopilot system.

The rudder position sensor and the fluxgate compass connect directly to the core pack, which in turn is connected to the SeaTalk NG system to communicate with the ST70 Autopilot Controller, the ST70 Instrument and the MFD display.

The core pack in turns directly controls the two electronic steering relays that open the valves of the hydraulic fluid to the steering rams.

The core pack contains three automobile type of fuses, two with a 3 A rating and 1 with a 15 A rating.

The core pack is located above the starboard fuel tank.

The rotary rudder position sensor is suitable for most steering systems. 

It is connected to the port rudder and directly to the Raymarine autopilot.

Raymarine Smartpilot M81190 Fluxgate Compass

The  fluxgate compass is connected directly to the Raymarine autopilot.  The autopilot also sends the compass signals to the Raymarine NG net.

 It is attached to the ceiling under the bridge, in the middle of the boat.

Raymarine iTC-5 Converter

The converter interfaces the wind, speed and depth transducers to the Seatalk NG net.

The converter is used for the Raymarine wind vane, depth and speed - water temperature transducer. 

The rudder reference and compass are connected directly to the autopilot.

Raymarine Depth Transducer

The Raymarine ST80 depth transducer connects to the Seatalk NG net via the iTC-5 converter .

Raymarine Raystar 125 GPS Receiver

The Raymarine Raystar 125 GPS Receiver talks to the other Raymarine equiment through the SeaTalk to SeaTalk NG converter.

Raytech RNS
Raytech Planner

The Raytech RNS navigation software displays the Navionics electronic navigation chart on the on board computer that is directly connected to the computer with the Navionics CF card reader.

The Raytech planner is free and can be downloaded from the Raymarine web site.  It is a limited version of the Raytech RNS software.

The computer and the navigation software and Navionics electronic charts are not connected to the Raymarine NG net.

Navionics Electronic Charts

The XL9 gold chart displays the complete Mediterranean from Gibraltar and the black sea.

Raymarine equipment uses the CF format of the chart.

Needs the Navionics Multicard Chart Reader if used on a PC, even if the PC has a generic CF card reader. A real stupid thing.

Raymarine PC/Seatalk/NMEA Interface Box

The Raymarine Interface box converts the proprietary Raymarine Seatalk protocol to the NMEA protocol and provides a serial output for a PC. 

It is located in the computer accessories box under the bridge.
