Finally, the PH8 navigates.
A picture is worth more than a thousand words. Besides, I am having too much fun testing and enjoying the cat.
|Top speed is 17.5 knots.
Eventually it will be a bit higher, since the props are a bit too small.
|The cat is still very light. At
splash day the crane
operator determined the weight: 16.8 metric tons. Not much weight
has been added since then.
The cat was designed to have a full weight of 30 metric tons.
|Manovrability is wonderful. Thanks to the width of the propellers the cat literally turns on itself. No need for a bow thruster.|
|Tha radar arch is still provisional. I have not yet decided how tall I really want it, or if I want a tuna tower.|
|The photographer told me to "pose" in front of Laveno, so that it looks a bit as if we were in Portofino.|
|Laveno is a little town on lago Maggiore right in front of stresa and about 10km from where the cat was built.|
